On the occasion of ORGATEC 2024, Slalom presents Living Lab, an immersive journey to discover the sustainable and natural materials that constitute the essence of its sound-absorbing products. The booth transforms into a creative laboratory, where the raw materials, integral to the manufacturing processes, are celebrated through a spectacular installation. Designed by Studiolatte, this itinerant concept, previously introduced during the last edition of the Salone del Mobile, finds a new expression in this context, enriched by new acoustic and decorative products, as well as new finishes.

The sensorial journey unfolds through five rooms, each defined by a strong chromatic identity, where the textures of the wall panels, along with their finishing details, invite visitors to engage directly. A thin table, inspired by the conveyor belts of factories and laboratories, runs through each room, playfully encouraging visitors to observe, touch and discover the essence of the materials that give life to Slalom’s creations.
The key architectural element is the door, which separates and connects the different environments, playing a fundamental perspective role: thanks to its scale, it allows the public to appreciate the refined play of colours that flows through the rooms, revealing a sophisticated use of colour.
Among Slalom’s proposals, such as Italian natural felt, PET plastic felt and the new Woody, Bloom and Bouclé finishes, the journey culminates in an intimate alcove, a “surprise corner” adorned with tailor-made panels that showcase surfaces inspired by architectural finishes, from tiles to ashlar: the space is illuminated by the Silent Disco lamp designed by architect Giuseppe Albera, and covered in an elegant blue avio sound-absorbing fabric: the piece seems to float in the space, enriching the visual and sensorial experience.

«We are thrilled to participate in ORGATEC 2024, a true institution in the office world, capable of anticipating future trends», explains architect Elettra de Pellegrin, founder of Slalom; «ORGATEC represents an ideal showcase for presenting our new products, where the dialogue and contrast between natural and synthetic materials creates refined dualistic environments. The alternation between smooth and corrugated surfaces, artisanal and industrial workmanship, together with the colours of the panels chosen for this edition — inspired by earth tones and evergreen neutrals such as blue—, express our tailor-made concept, in harmony with the needs of architects, the true ambassadors of our brand».

Bloom (winner of the Hip Awards, The Best of NeoCon 2024 and winner of the May’s FRAME Awards competition), is a sound absorbing panel making a step forward towards anthropization, by integrating bio-based solutions within the architectural project. Inspired by the fascinating world of herbariums, Bloom is a blend of regenerated plastic materials, linen and flower petals selected from specific biological corridors, put to rest according to traditional cultivation practices, free of chemical additives and supportive of biodiversity.

Woody (winner of the 2024 Red Dot Award in the Design Concept category), is the new sound-absorbing wall that integrates recycled plastic fibres and regenerated FSC® wood through an innovative patent pending thermoforming technology: this is an absolute novelty for Slalom but especially in the field of acoustics, ensuring a solid but lightweight product that is very easy to install, guarantying the possibility of reuse and second life, a characteristic common to the entire range of Slalom finishes.

Bouclé, a unique fabric made from recycled plastic fibres from the sea (the product bears the SEAQUAL certification), giving it a textured and natural appearance. The softness of the fabric makes it pleasant to the touch, while its natural and bright pastel colours reflect the beauty and variety of nature.

Slalom also presents two innovative laser-processed felt panels, inspired by the decorative world of wallpaper: a blue wool felt with a striped texture, and an orange PET felt decorated with a dotted pattern.
